Do you really understand brake hub drum gear coupling?

Publish Time: 2024-10-08
The brake hub drum gear coupling is a special coupling that combines the characteristics of the brake hub and drum gear coupling.

1. Basic concept

The brake hub drum gear coupling is mainly composed of two coaxial boss parts (one of which may have a brake hub function) and an elastic cam (or elastic element) in the middle. The drum gear design enables the coupling to have better angular displacement compensation and load-bearing capacity.

2. Structural features

Drum gear design:

The drum gear is to make the outer teeth into a spherical surface, the center of the spherical surface is on the gear axis, and the tooth side clearance is larger than that of ordinary gears.

This design enables the coupling to compensate for the relative displacement between the two shafts while transmitting torque, thereby improving the stability and reliability of the transmission.

Elastic cam:

The elastic cam plays the role of transmitting power and compensating axial displacement in the middle.

When there is axial displacement between the two boss parts, the elastic cam will deform, so that the drum teeth at both ends of it are respectively engaged with the two boss parts, achieving the purpose of transmitting torque and compensating axial displacement.

Brake hub function:

Some brake hub drum gear couplings may also have a braking function, which is connected to the brake system through the brake hub to achieve braking control of the shaft.

3. Working principle

The working principle of the brake hub drum gear coupling is mainly to use the deformation of the intermediate elastic cam to achieve torque transmission and compensation of axial displacement. When there is relative movement between the two boss parts, the elastic cam will deform accordingly, thereby maintaining the normal operation of the coupling. At the same time, the design of the drum gear enables the coupling to compensate for the angular displacement and radial displacement between the two shafts, improving the accuracy and stability of the transmission.

4. Application field

The brake hub drum gear coupling is particularly suitable for occasions where torque transmission and braking are required at the same time, such as low-speed and heavy-load conditions in metallurgy, mining, lifting and transportation industries. In addition, it can also be used in shaft transmission of various types of machinery such as petroleum, chemical industry, general machinery, etc., and has a wide range of applicability.

5. Performance characteristics

Strong load-bearing capacity: The design of the drum gear enables the coupling to have a higher load-bearing capacity and can withstand larger torque and axial force.

Good angular displacement compensation ability: By increasing the tooth side clearance of the internal and external teeth, the coupling can compensate for the relative displacement between the two shafts and improve the smoothness of the transmission.

Smooth and noiseless operation: The coupling does not require lubrication and maintenance during operation, and can effectively alleviate the impact and vibration caused by the uneven operation of the prime mover.

Oil-proof, moisture-proof, and aging-resistant: It has good environmental adaptability and can work normally in a variety of harsh environments.

The brake hub drum gear coupling is a mechanical transmission device with high performance and wide applicability. Its design combines the advantages of the brake hub and the drum gear coupling, and can meet the transmission requirements under various complex working conditions.
